Dream Team Concede Twice Again In Second Half, Share Spoils With Egypt
Published: December 02, 2015The Dream Team VI surrendered a two - goal lead to draw with North Africans Egypt in their second Group B fixture at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations on Wednesday night, but their destiny remain in their own hands to qualify for the semi - finals.
Nigeria dominated from the opening moments of the first half and were rewarded with a goal in the 21st minute.
The referee blew for a penalty after Egypt U23 skipper Rami Rabia handed the ball and Warri Wolves striker Etebo Oghenekaro managed to put away his spot kick despite goalkeeper Mossad Awad Mossad guessing the right way.
Etebo increased the Dream Team’s lead in the 30th minute from the penalty spot after another handball incident but there was no argument about this one unlike the first penalty awarded.
Egypt’s comeback began two minutes out of intermission when Sobhi Ahmed headed home from a Mohamed Sharf Edin cross.
And the fightback was completed six minutes later, with El Sayed scoring from an acute position to set up a nervy ending.
Algeria, who beat Mali 2 - 0 today, are at the summit of Group B with four points, same tally with Nigeria who they play next on Saturday.
