Nwankwo Kanu, Leon Balogun Hail Golden Eaglets
Published: November 09, 2015 Nwankwo Kanu has a soft spot for the Golden Eaglets, having represented the team with pride during the 1993 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, and has congratulated the Emmanuel Amuneke - led side for winning the trophy.
And the former Arsenal hero has inferred that the Nigeria U17s triumph in Chile will generate an increase in national pride.
“Champions of the world, congrats to Amunike and the coaching crew. Congrats to our boys, you all made us proud. We thank God, great nation Nigeria,” Kanu said via Twitter.
Mainz defender Leon Balogun also congratulated the Golden Eaglets and reckons that the players have put themselves in the shop window .
He said : “Congrats Golden Eaglets! The door to the big stage is open now! Be proud of yourself because we are world champions.”
The central defender has withdrawn from the latest Super Eagles roster after picking up a knee injury against Wolfsburg on Saturday in a Bundesliga game.
