Taye Academy Supremo Told Man City Starlet Chidiebere Nwakali He Will Never Make It In Football
Published: September 24, 2015Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Kennedy Ezenwere, the proprietor of Taye Academy, told his former student Manchester City’s Chidiebre Nwakwali that he will never make it in football so much so that his name was not one of those recommended to undergo screening with the Golden Eaglets prior to the 2013 African Under 17 Championship.
Just few days back, the Taye Academy supremo laid claim to the sporting and economic rights of the Nigeria youth international, stating that Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke illegally transferred the rights to his Lagos- based academy.
It is another case of the rejected stone turned cornerstone. After omitting Nwakali’s name from the Golden Eaglets screening exercise, a scout later recommended the central midfielder to Emmanuel Amuneke, then an assistant coach with the Nigeria Under 17s.
The former Barcelona winger was impressed with the qualities of Chidiebere Nwakali at training but to avoid conflict of interest the final word on if he would make the roster did not come from him but Nduka Ugbade, whom he also dazzled.
Now 18, Nwakali paid a visit to Taye Academy after the African U17 Championship to show appreciation to Kennedy Ezenwere but he was taunted by his mentor for missing a penalty against Ivory Coast in the final of the competition which cost Nigeria the Cup, adding that he had always known he was a bad player and unfit for the national team.
The youngster angrily walked away and vowed never to have any dealings with the owner of Taye Academy, and took back with him the money, thought to be in the region of $1,000, he had wanted to present as a gift to Kennedy Ezenwere.
