Dream Team Coach Samson Siasia Assures On Olympic Ticket
Published: September 14, 2015Dream Team VI manager, Samson Siasia, has opined that the Nigeria Under 23s were not handed a favourable draw for the U-23 African Nations Cup after the draw for the tournament took place today in Cairo.
Nigeria will have to navigate past Egypt, Mali and Algeria in Group B of the competition and must finish amongst the top three teams to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
“For now my concentration is on my semi-final game, but I must confess that this group is tough, all the team’s in my group have a pedigree that can not be over looked,” Siasia told thenff.com.
“But I can assure Nigerians that we will pick one of the tickets for the football event of the Rio Olympic Games.”
Nigeria has qualified for the football event at the Olympic Games 6 times and won gold and silver in 1996 and 2008 respectively.
The Nigeria U23s will do battle with Burkina Faso in the semi - final of the All - Africa Games on Tuesday.
