Uche Ikpeazu Thanks Port Vale, Teammates For Showing Compassion
Published: September 14, 2015Port Vale striker Uche Ikpeazu has thanked the front office staff and his teammates for showing compassion to him following the passing away of his grandfather days leading up to the clash against Wigan Athletic.
The Anglo - Nigerian and Dream Team VI target lost his mom’s father on September 5 and was delighted to score a late, late winner for the Valiants in their 3 - 2 win over Wigan in memory of his beloved grandad.
“It has been difficult. My mum’s pain is my pain so when he passed away it was difficult for me. But I thought he would have wanted me to play and go out there and give my best shot,” said Uche Ikpeazu to stokesentinel.co.uk.
“That’s what I have been doing. I have been working hard all week and as a team we got the result.
“The staff and all the players have been really good to me. They gave their condolences, but I have to be a man about things and this is my job.”
The Watford loanee has struck 4 times in his last 6 games in all competitions, his best goals return since he turned professional two years ago.
