Obafemi Martins Loses Out To Didier Drogba In Goal of the Week Award
Published: September 11, 2015Seattle Sounders striker Obafemi Martins lost out to Didier Drogba in
the AT&T Goal of the Week award for last weekend’s matches in Major
League Soccer.
The Nigeria international garnered 29 percent of the total votes cast to finish in second place behind new Montreal Impact acquisition Drogba, who accumulated 49 percent of the votes polled.
Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution) , Michael Barrios (FC Dallas) and Conor Casey (Philadelphia Union) finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Obafemi Martins has won the Goal of the Week award three times this season, in week seven, nine and twenty four.
San Jose Earthquakes star Innocent Emeghara scooped the accolade in week two.
