Odion Ighalo Joins Obafemi Martins, Victor Obinna And Samuel Etoo In History Books
Published: August 11, 2015After netting against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, Nigeria international Odion Ighalo entered the history books as the fifth African to score in three of Europe’s top 5 leagues.
Based on the latest UEFA coefficient, the top five leagues in Europe are Spain, Germany, England, Italy and Portugal in that order.
Odion Ighalo previously netted for Granada in La Liga and scored in the Serie A during his brief spell at Udinese.
According to the Twitter account, @Watfordtalk, Ighalo became the fourth African to to have scored in Serie A, La Liga, and the Premier League, however, independent checks by allnigeriasoccer.com revealed that the Super Eagles forward is the fifth player.
Nigeria international Victor Obinna netted in the top division for Chievo Verona (Italy), Malaga(Spain) and West Ham (England) while Obafemi Martins found the back of the net for Inter Milan, Levante, Wolfsburg and Newcastle.
Former Ivory Coast international Ibrahima Bakayoko made the list , having scored for Osasuna, Livorno and Everton.
Finally, Cameroon superstar Samuel Eto’o hit target in the top flight while on the books of Barcelona, Chelsea and Inter Milan.
