Manchester City Confirm Kelechi Iheanacho Has Been Promoted To First Team
Published: August 05, 2015Manchester City have confirmed that Nigeria youth international Kelechi Iheanacho has been promoted to their first team.
If there was uncertainty surrounding the status of the Taye Academy product ahead of City’s season opener in the Premier League, it came to an end on Wednesday night during the 2015 - 2016 launch party/Awards Ceremony.
The Citizens announced that Iheanacho, Jason Denayer and Rony Lopes have been elevated to full time members of the first team after impressing for the Elite Development Squad.
The Golden Ball winner at the 2013 Fifa Under 17s did not arrive the venue of the awards ceremony with Manchester City’s youth setup but was seen in the company of Pablo Zabaleta, Raheem Sterling and Gael Clichy alighting from the first - team coach.
The 18 - year - old was nominated for the Nissan Goal of the Season award, an accolade that was eventually picked up by Three Lionesses winger Toni Duggan.
