Kingsley Sokari Labels Referee Spoilsport Following Champions League Loss To Smouha
Published: April 06, 2015
Enyimba’s Kingsley Sokari has cried foul over the officiating in the CAF Champions League tie away to Smouha SC on Sunday, saying the referee orchestrated his side’s exit from the premium club competition in Africa.
The attacking midfielder took the walk of shame in the second half, but has maintained his innocence, saying he was wrongly cautioned in the first half.
“I will say the referee killed the game, he did not allow us play, ” said Kingsley Sokari to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Their first goal wasn’t a penalty, it was manufactured by the referee. As for the second goal, the player used his hand in his attempt to chest the ball before he scored.
“If we continue playing that game for the next two weeks, no way we will win the game because of the referee.
“The first yellow card issued to me was not deserved but the second one was fair. I’ll say he wanted to give them room to play.”
The Enyimba number 10 linked up with Nigeria’s Olympic National Team on Monday afternoon but did not train with the squad.
