Senator Folarin Vows To Revive 3SC And Crown
Published: March 24, 2015
Considering the poor start of the Ibadan darling team Shooting Stars Sports Club, (3SC) in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) that just commenced and the relegation of its counterpart Crown FC of Ogbomoso to the less fancied Nigeria National League (NNL), the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin vowed to restore the pride of the state by prioritizing the welfare of the teams if elected.
The immediate past Senate Leader revealed this to newsmen over the weekend while speaking with members of Oyo State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the main-bowl of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium where he co-sponsored the annual Splash FM Integrity Marathon.
He recalled while playing the Nigeria University Games’ (NUGA) football final for the University of Ibadan in 1986, and stressed how welfare of sports men and women is important to their performances and success, saying the two teams are not well managed by the present administration in the state.
“I have played the game of football very well before so and I can understand the situation in 3SC and Crown very well.
“I also pity their plight now because it quite obvious that the man in power now never has any regard or good plan for sport in Oyo State, so their welfare is never his priority.
“This is what I believe caused the relegation of Crown last season and responsible for the poor show of Shooting Stars this season playing two games with no point, this is shameful and disgraceful to all Yoruba people that the team represents.
“We are going to restore the past glory of this great team that has not played in the continental competition in the past decade” Senator Folarin fumed.
