Nigerian Fans Can NOT Take It Anymore, Want Keshi Fired With Immediate Effect
Published: October 12, 2014Passionate Nigerian football fans have called for the dismissal of interim Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, following a dismal run of results in African Cup of Nations qualifying.
The African champions are on the brink of not defending the trophy they won in South Africa last year, after losing 1 - 0 to Sudan in Khartoum on Saturday night.
“The team should not only be disbanded, they should be arrested. Keshi is just a pick pocket,” an angry fan with the Twitter handle@Donchimzy1 told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“This Eagles team lacks in all departments, the team needs a motivator in the pitch, creativity and genius...so frustrating!”@Nedujizzy said.
Technically, Stephen Keshi is now a free agent following the expiration of his contract in June, and some fans have opined that he does not have a black and white agreement with the Nigeria Federation to lead the Super Eagles in the first place.
“Can someone who has no appointment be sacked?” asked@martinsopara rhetorically.
@MasediSekgota added : “Keshi without contract that is a recipe for disaster.”
Stephen Keshi was appointed coach of Nigeria in 2011, and less than 16 months later the Super Eagles clinched the African Cup of Nations for a third time.
The Nigeria delegation to Sudan is expected back in the country on Sunday.
