Golden Eaglets Make Light Work Of Gabon
Published: September 27, 2014Defending champions of the Fifa Under 17 World Cup, the Golden Eaglets, made light work of Gabon in the second leg of the final round of the African U-17 Championship, thrashing their opponents 5 - 0 to advance to the tournament 6 - 2 on aggregate.
Skipper Kelechi Nwakali opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 19th minute before Ebere Osinachi gave the Golden Eaglets a two - goal cushion 11 minutes later.
After being set up by Samuel Chukwueze, Ebere Osinachi rounded off the scoring in the first half with his second strike in the 42nd minute.
Super sub Kehinde Ayinde sealed the game after getting himself on the score-sheet, with a brace in the 78th and 90th minute.
The 2015 African Under 17 Championship will be staged by Niger from 15 February–1 March, 2015, with the top four teams qualifying for the Fifa Under 17s.
