Stephen Keshi Denies He Gave NFF September 30 Deadline
Published: September 24, 2014Coach Stephen Keshi has denied statements credited to him that claimed he handed a September 30 deadline to the Nigeria Football Federation to prolong his contract.
Technically, the former New Nigeria Bank libero has been a free agent since after this summer’s World Cup.
But he was persuaded by the leadership of the glasshouse plus the Sports Ministry to take charge of the Super Eagles for the African Cup of Nations qualifying ties with Congo and South Africa.
“I never said so, I don’t know where that comment is coming from. I never said anything like that; I never discussed anything like that with anybody and I am surprised to hear this.
“Somebody first told me this and you are the second person, but there is no such thing, ” Stephen Keshi told reporters.
Stephen Keshi will know his fate whether or not he would continue as helmsman of the Super Eagles after a new Board of the NFF is in place.
