Vitesse Hat - trick Hero Abiola Dauda Says Hard Work Paid Off
Published: September 14, 2014Vitesse forward Abiola Dauda repaid the manager’s trust by scoring a hat - trick in his first start, as the Arnhem based outfit defeated Excelsior 3 - 1 at home in the Eredivisie on Sunday afternoon.
A summer arrival from Red Star Belgrade, the Swedish - Nigerian had only 30 minutes of game time under his belt prior to the encounter at the GelreDome (Arnhem).
“No, I wasn’t worried that I did not start in my two previous games because I wasn’t fit enough to play. But I worked hard during the international break and that convinced the coach to start me, ” Abiola Dauda told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“The match ball? I will take it home and keep it there to remind me of the memory.
“I want to dedicate this hat - trick to my parents, and also to my fans and my teammates.”
Abiola Dauda has chalked up 28 goals in his last 59 topflight appearances for Kalmar, Red Star Belgrade and Vitesse.
The 26 - year - old last scored 3 goals in a single game in Kalmar’s 3 - 1 win over Hacken, back in April 2012.
