Joseph Mbong Enjoying Training With Malta Under 19 Squad
Published: August 04, 2014Hibernians starlet Joseph Mbong has stated that he has been omitted from the Malta Under 17 squad that traveled to Hungary to take part in a youth tournament on account of being promoted to the Under 19s.
The 17 - year - old was one of the star attractions at this summer’s Euro Under 17s for the Island Nation, netting the first ever goal for his adopted country in a sanctioned tournament in the 2- 5 loss to finalists Netherlands.
“The players who traveled were born on or before 1998. I am now training with the Under 19 squad.
“We are training now because we are preparing for a tournament in November. On Mondays and Tuesdays, I practice with the National U19 team and the rest with the Hibs senior team,” Joseph Mbong said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Before the end of this week, he is set to be rewarded for his displays last season, as the Malta Football Federation has chosen him as one of the most promising youngsters in Malta.
“I am enjoying my training with the Under 19s and Hibs. The season will soon begin, so it has been very intensive plus there is little fun in it.
“This Friday, I I have an award presentation for most promising player in the Under 17 plus I am receiving best player award in the Hibs nursery,” he concluded.
