New York City To Challenge Sydney FC For Shola Ameobi
Published: June 03, 2014Nigeria international Shola Ameobi, who is set to officially depart Newcastle United at the end of this month, is likely to continue his career in Australia.
The veteran attacker is in advanced talks with Sydney FC, the Journal newspaper based in Newcastle is reporting on its electronic edition.
The 2010 A League champions are searching for a replacement for retired Italy international Alessandro Del Piero, and their top priority is the experienced Ameobi.
But the Australian side must see off competition from New York City, who are also keen on him.
