Scotland - Nigeria Friendly To Go Ahead Despite Match Fixing Probe
Published: May 28, 2014The Scotland - Nigeria friendly will go ahead as planned despite fears of match fixing surrounding the fixture.
Reports have surfaced in the British media that the National Crime Agency classified the Wednesday showdown at Craven Cottage, London as a high risk fixture, which could mean irregular betting patterns have been detected.
“We have liaised with the relevant authorities and will prepare for the match as normal,” the Scotland Federation said in a statement.
According to respected bookmaker William Hill, the Super Eagles are favoured to win the encounter, as the returns on a Nigeria win are lower than the opponents.
This can be explained further. If you bet on Nigeria winning the game and invest =N=1,000 and it comes to pass, the punter gets to pocket =N=2,250 whereas the staker rooting for Scotland earns =N=3,400.
