Saviour Fidelis Says His Goal Reminds Him Of Alexis Sanchez
Published: May 18, 2014
Saviour Fidelis ended his two - month goal drought for Taraba United in the 2 - 1 win over Bayelsa United on Sunday afternoon.
And his wonder strike eight minutes from full time was reminiscent of the brilliant goal by Barcelona’s Alexis Sánchez against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
The former Enyimba man was elated that the Supreme Being finally answered his prayers, after a barren spell which even made the technical crew relegate him to the bench.
“I have been working hard but the goals refused to come. I am happy breaking the scoring duck and the goal was a classic, so I am grateful to God for the goal.
“Yesterday, I was talking to my wife and she playfully instructed me not to come home if I did not score today,”says Saviour Fidelis to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I have been passing through difficult times, as a striker you are bought to score goals. And my situation reminded me of Fernando Torres.
“The game was very tight and with my first touch after I was introduced, I scored. The fans are already tipping it as the Goal of the Season similar to the goal Sanchez scored for Barcelona yesterday.”
Taraba United are off to Makurdi on Monday to keep a date with Lobi Stars, whom they face on Wednesday.
