Nigeria Women League Postpones Week 10 Games, Suspends Adamawa Queens Home Matches
Published: April 30, 2014The leadership of the Nigeria Women league has announced the postponement of the all the Week 10 Premier League matches slated to hold this weekend.
This according to the Chairperson of the League Board Chief (Mrs.) Dilichukwu Onyedinma is to enable all the Women League clubs take part in their various States Federation Cup finals.
Mrs. Onyedinma said this is in accordance with the directives from the Nigeria Football Federation that the State finals of the Federation cup be played on or before Sunday 4th May, 2014.
She however, stated that all the Week 10 Nigeria Women Premier League matches would be played on Wednesday 7th May, 2014.
In another development, the League body has announced that all home matches of Adamawa Queens be put on hold.
This they said is to enable them get further directives from the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation concerning the Women League clubs playing in Fufurore, Adamawa State.
In a released signed by the Board Chairman, Chief (Mrs.) Dilichukwu Onyedinma, this is based on the resolution of the Disciplinary Committee of the NFF.
“Based on the recent resolution of the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, that the League Body seek advice from the NFF on issues concerning our team not going to Adamawa to play their league matches, the Board of the Nigeria Women Football League has decided to put on hold all home matches of Adamawa Queens pending when such advice would come from the leadership of the NFF” she stated.
She said that the NFF Disciplinary Committee had in their sitting last week, advised the League Body to seek advice from the NFF on the issues.
She said that League Body would have to rely on the advice of the NFF who is parent body vested with the responsibilities of running football in the country.
She commended the clubs for their understanding, and the high level of discipline they have exhibited since the commencement of the League season.
