Ex-Chelsea Coach Lauds Eaglets Recruitment Format
Published: April 17, 2014Former Chelsea FC of England youth coach, Fennessey Harty Thomas has commended the way the handler of National Under-17, Emmanuel Amuneke is recruiting players into the team, saying “the team has high chances of the retaining the FIFA World title won at the United Arab Emirates.
Fennessey who now works as technical head of Ibadan based Frenage International Soccer Academy said the policy of recruiting players from academies adopted by the Eaglets handlers is the best practice world over especially for under aged teams.
“Since I arrived in Nigeria couples of months ago, I have seen the volume of talents abounds in the country which is a clear indication why the country is a world power in FIFA age grade competitions.
“Eaglets crew has visited Ibadan and invited 5 players from Frenage Soccer Academy where I worked and I learnt they had gone round the country in the same manner to scout from academies. Only this way best legs can be assembled and groom to be a world beater”, Fennessey noted.
He however, attested to high soccer prowess of Nigerian youths considering his relationship with them within the few months he had spent with the academy, saying its interesting working with Nigerian players.
