Chippa United Ace James Okwuosa Vows To Support Eagles Come Rain Or Shine
Published: February 28, 2014Chippa United central defender James Okwuosa is hopeful of making the Super Eagles World Cup squad.
The 23 - year - old is one of the first names on the Chippa United roster, having made 17 out of a possible 21 starts in the ongoing season.
“My chances of going to the World Cup are 50 - 50. Just like every other Nigerian footballer, I am grateful to coach Stephen Keshi for giving me the opportunity to be part of the team.
“I am confident if I am invited for the training camp, I will make sure I work hard to make the final team,” James Okwuosa said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
The former Enugu Rangers defender has stressed that he will take the decision of manager Stephen Keshi in good faith if he fails to be on the plane to Brazil and will keep supporting the team from afar.
He added : “There are a lot of great players who all want to make the team unfortunately it is only 23 that can make it.
“It is the dream of every player to represent his country in the World Cup and I am not different.
“I am going to fight for a place but if I did not make it I will support the team that the coach picks.
“I am still very young and believe I am going to be part of the National Team for a long time.”
James Okwuosa played his first game for the Nigeria selection against South Africa in August 2013.
