Victor Anichebe : I Was Sad To See David Moyes Go
Published: September 08, 2013David Moyes' decision to quit Everton in the summer for Manchester United played a role in Victor Anichebe's transfer to West Brom hours before the close of the summer transfer market, the Nigeria international has told British media.
Anichebe reached new heights under David Moyes who handed the attacker his first team debut in February 2006.
Speaking to Sky Sports UK, the 25 - year - old said : '' David Moyes has been such a help for me. He has been like a father figure.
'' He brought me through when I was just a boy and he has stuck with me through thick and thin.
''It was a wrench and there were moments even when I was driving down when I thought, 'is this the right decision?'
'' I was sad to see David Moyes go but that happens and you have to move on.
'' I felt after a good latter stage of the season, maybe I should go somewhere else for a fresh start.''
Victor Anichebe is credited with 18 goals in 131 English Premier League appearances for the Toffees.
