Serie A giants Juventus considering move for Leicester ace Ndidi to bolster their midfield
Published: April 17, 2024Italian Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly considering a move for Nigeria national teamer Wilfred Ndidi.
The box-to-box midfielder has roughly two months left on his contract with Leicester City and there is no agreement yet on a potential contract extension, meaning he could be departing the King Power Stadium on a free transfer at the end of the season, as things stand.
According to celebrated Turin-based sports daily Tuttosport, Juventus chief Cristiano Giuntoli is keeping tabs on two players with Premier League experience in Wilfred Ndidi and Arsenal star Jorginho.
The report added that the Super Eagles assistant captain is also a player of interest to Giovanni Manna - the incoming sporting director of Napoli.
Cristiano Giuntoli has brokered deals for Nigerian-born players in the past, signing Jerry Mbakogu for Carpi in 2013 and convinced Victor Osimhen to join Napoli in 2020 amid rival interest from other top European clubs.
The Bianconeri's top target was Lewis Ferguson but they shelved the idea of signing the Scotland midfielder after he suffered a serious knee injury during Bologna's 0-0 draw with Monza last weekend.
Juventus are now considering three options to reinforce the midfield - Mikel Merino, Ndidi and Jorginho.
Ndidi has been consistently linked with a departure from Leicester City due to his contract situation, with clubs in England, Italy, Spain and Turkey rumored to be interested in his services.
The 27-year-old has scored four goals and laid on six assists for his teammates in 32 matches this season.
