Juventus interested in signing two Nigerian strikers with 27 goals between them in 2023-24
Published: April 07, 2024Italian giants Juventus are considering moves for two Nigerian players as they look to revamp their attack this summer.
According to Football Italia making reference to Turin-based sports daily Tuttosport, Juventus have set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen's Nigeria international Victor Boniface, and are also interested in Bologna's Super Eagles-eligible forward Joshua Zirkzee.
Boniface and Zirkzee are having outstanding seasons at their respective clubs and have scored 27 goals between them so far this season, with the Super Eagles star accounting for sixteen.
The brilliant performances of Boniface and Zirkee have attracted attention, not only from Juventus and Napoli but also from leading Premier League clubs interested in securing their services.
Juventus are in the market for a striker to compensate for the possible departure of either Arek Milik or Moise Kean.
Boniface has been targeted as a potential replacement for Dusan Vlahovic who might be sold if a substantial offer is received, while Zirkzee could play alongside the Serbian in Juventus' attack, stepping in for Federico Chiesa.
The former Royale Union Saint-Gilloise star has returned to action, having missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to an adductor injury he sustained during the Super Eagles pre-tournament training camp in the United Arab Emirates.
Boniface has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 30, 2028, while Zirkzee is tied to Bologna until the summer of 2026.
