Chukwuani reveals he contacted Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund before signing for new club
Published: April 01, 2024Denmark U21 international of Nigerian descent, Tochi Chukwuani has revealed that he contacted Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund before signing for his new Austrian club Sturm Graz.
Twelve days ago, Danish Superliga outfit Lyngby Boldklub announced that the talented midfielder extended his contract until the end of the year and has been sold to Austrian Bundesliga outfit Sturm Graz.
The move will be completed in the summer when the transfer window opens for business.
Chukwuani, who also drew interest from Brondby and FC Midtjylland, sought advice from Højlund before making an important career choice.
Rasmus Højlund is an alum of Sturm Graz, scoring 12 goals in 21 outings for the three-time Austrian champions before transferring to Atalanta, from where he moved to Manchester United.
Chukwuani admitted that Højlund only had positive things to say about Sturm Graz and this convinced him to join the club.
"I was in contact with Rasmus Højlund to hear how the club is doing. There were only positive things to say about Sturm Graz," Chukwuani said to bold.dk.
"Well, he said it was a great place. I have also seen many of their matches, and they play very direct football. They really want to get ahead on the pitch, and that also suits my game.
"I also want to go forward as I am a box-to-box player. The city is also very nice, so that's what they had to say."
A product of the Nordsjaelland academy, Chukwuani has agreed a long-term contract with Sturm Graz until 2028.
