Fifa Women's world rankings: Super Falcons and Banyana Banyana are Africa's top two ranked teams
Published: March 15, 2024Football's governing body, Fifa, through their official website, on Friday released the rankings of women's national teams.
The Super Falcons have dropped two spots in the rankings released today and are now ranked 36th in the world despite beating Cameroon on aggregate to advance to the final round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Randy Waldrum's girls continue to hold the first position in Africa ahead of South Africa's Banyana Banyana whom they face in a two-legged Olympic qualifiers next month.
The Super Falcons dropped 11.18 points compared to the points they accumulated in the December rankings.
Since losing 1-0 to Colombia in a friendly in February 2023, Nigeria are unbeaten in regulation time in thirteen consecutive matches.
That run of results include wins against Australia, Haiti, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Cape Verde and Cameroon, and draws against Canada, Republic of Ireland and England
Completing the top ten teams in Africa are: Morocco, Ghana, Zambia, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Tunisia, Mali and Equatorial Guinea.
World champions Spain are ranked in first place, followed by England, France, United States and Germany.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women's world ranking will be published on June 14, 2024.
