Ibrahim Hafiz Umar imminent move: Bodo/Glimt coach not as sure as Fabrizio Romano
Published: February 29, 2024FK Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen has played down reports linking Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar with an imminent transfer to the three-time Norwegian Eliteserien champions.
Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano earlier reported on Thursday that FK Bodo/Glimt were closing in on deal to sign Umar, adding the the agreement is being finalized.
The 18-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for a plethora of European clubs after putting himself in the shop window at the Viareggio Cup, where he won the top scorer award with ten goals.
According to Romano, the Norwegian champions and the striker, who is currently on the books of Ojodu City Academy, are nearing an agreement.
However, Kjetil Knutsen has insisted that he has never heard of the talented Nigerian forward.
Speaking after Bodo/Glimt's friendly against Sarpsborg 08 on Thursday afternoon. he told Norwegian Television channel TV 2: "I cannot confirm that at all. We rarely confirm that type of thing, so it was really new for me,"
When probed further, Kjetil Knutsen claimed he did not know anything about Ibrahim Hafiz Umar
Umar netted back-to-back hat-tricks against Westchester and Honvéd at the Viareggio Cup.
