Official: Super Falcons defender joins Paris Saint-Germain
Published: July 20, 2023Through their official website, French Division 1 Féminine club Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Super Falcons defender Nicole Payne.
Born in Birmingham (Alabama, USA), Nicole, the younger sister of Toni Payne who is currently with the Super Falcons squad in Melbourne for the Women's World Cup, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract until June 30, 2026.
Nicole Payne represented Atlanta-based Concorde Fire before joining West Virginia University, for whom she scored 4 goals in 53 matches across three years.
After representing her country of birth at youth level, she committed her international future to African powerhouse Nigeria and made her debut in a friendly against Jamaica in 2021.
Last year, Payne played in sixteen matches for University of Southern California, scoring three goals.
Commenting on her transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, she told the club's official website: "It's something I've always dreamed of! I became a professional player when I was a teenager, and I've grown up playing football since I was four, so to experience a moment like this is very special. I'm really grateful to be here."
Nicole Payne describes herself as a quick player who loves to get forward and join the attack despite her defensive mentality.
