Former Manchester United striker Ighalo attracting interest from Gulf, European clubs
Published: March 16, 2023The future of former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo at Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal will be the subject of speculation in the coming weeks.
The Super Eagles star has three months left on his contract with the record AFC Champions League winners.
Though Ighalo and his camp are in communication with Al-Hilal, nothing has been agreed over a contract extension, which increases the possibility of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner departing the club as a free agent in the summer.
The 33-year-old continues to bang in goals for Al-Hilal, scoring eighteen in all competitions so far this season.
It is going to be hard for Al-Hilal to retain the services of the Nigerian goal poacher despite their big budget as he is attracting interest from rich clubs in the Gulf and a couple of European teams.
Ighalo began his career in Europe with Norwegian side Lyn followed by spells at Udinese, Granada, Watford, Changchun Yatai and Shanghai Shenhua before returning to England to join Manchester United, from where he moved to Saudi Arabia in 2021.
Only Talisca (Al-Nassr), Carlos Júnior (Al-Shabab) and Abderrazak Hamdallah (Al-Ittihad Club) have scored more goals than Ighalo in this season's Saudi Pro League.
