Baba-Anini Left Disappointed After Home Draw Against Delta Queens
Published: July 29, 2015
Technical Adviser of Nigeria Women Premier League side, Confluence Queens FC, Musa Baba-Anini Amorley was left disappointed following his side’s one all draw result against Delta Queens in the NWPL Week Nine encounter on Wednesday in Lokoja.
Chinwendu Ihezou put the away team in front in the 29th minute after a well taken free-kick by Uju Okafor.
All efforts for the host to get an equalizer in the first half proved abortive as the Asaba girls’ defense was insoluble.
Confluence Queens make a quick change as they go into restart with Super Falcons invited attacker Ikeh Ginika replaced misfiring Koku Damilola.
The new import, Ginika however made a quick impact as she headed home the equalizer in the 46th minute to restore the host’s chances of picking any point.
Despite all numerous chances created, both sides failed to score more as the pulsating game finished 1-1.
Reacting after the disappointing draw, furious Baba-Anini lamented over his girls failure to convert their created chances, just as he believed the Wada Queens would recover their lost points in the next game (against FC Robo) in Lagos.
“We played better and deserved to win the game, but we are just too wasteful in front of goal,” begins Baba-Anini.
“Now, its a must for us to get atleast a win away from home, all hope is not lost yet, we can still recover all points dropped at home. This is a marathon League. ”
Coach of Delta Queens Peter Dedevbo who admitted that his girls were only lucky to settled for a point noted that the Wada Queens really put his side on the edge through the game.
The Falconets Head Coach said “Both teams played well today, but we are only lucky to walk away with a point. Its was a good game today.”
Confluence Queens have now garnered eight points from six matches, and will next play away next FC Robo of Lagos on Saturday.
