Derick Ogbu Rues Disallowed Goal Against Guangzhou R&F
Published: August 01, 2014
Liaoning Whowin striker Derick Chuka Ogbu has blamed the referee for disallowing his goal in Thursday’s Super League clash with Guangzhou R&F, which the visitors won 5 - 1.
With the scoreline reading 2 - 1, the Nigerian thought he had scored a legitimate goal and the equalizer, but the match official failed to recognize it, saying he was offside.
“We conceded two early goals within 28 minutes of the game due to defensive errors, and luckily we got back into the game with my goal.
“Unfortunately I scored the second goal to make it 2-2 but the official wrongly disqualified the goal. The replay showed that I was onside.
“Then they scored the third goal and kept the game beyond our reach,” says the Liaoning Whowin number 38 to allnigeriasoccer.com.
With 13 rounds left before the end of the championship, Liaoning Whowin, who are 15th in the standings, could be playing in the second - tier next season if their fortunes do not improve.
“We believe we will survive the the drop despite the situation, we just need to keep working hard. Hopefully those defensive errors would be corrected, as we have conceded 8 goals in 2 games,” Derick Ogbu added.
The 24 - year - old has bagged 3 goals in his first two league matches for Liaoning Whowin.
